What Is a Business Record?

More than a database row, and considerably more than a listing.

A business record is a structured representation of an operating business: its identity, its attributes, its relationships, the provenance of each fact, its permissions, and its current state.

What a listing leaves out

Most listings carry name, address, phone and category. A record carries the things that decisions actually depend on: which services are offered, where they are offered, by whom, under what credentials, with what availability, verified by what evidence, as of when.

Ownership is part of the structure

A record without a clear owner drifts. We believe ownership, verification and edit permissions belong inside the record rather than in whatever platform happens to display it.

The practical test we keep returning to: could an agent, acting for a customer, answer a specific question and take an action against this record without reading a single sentence of marketing copy?
