Exploring the Internet of Record at local scale.

The Internet of Record is a broader thesis. Local Internet Holdings is exploring what parts of this architecture might look like when applied to local businesses, places, services, communities, marketplaces and geographic information.

01Why local first

Local information is the hardest honest test of the thesis. It changes constantly, it is fragmented across dozens of platforms, it is rarely verified, and the consequences of getting it wrong are immediate and physical.

If records, relationships, provenance and agent access can be made to work for a plumbing company in a mid-sized city, we think the pattern generalises. If they cannot, we would rather learn that on real entities than in a diagram.

03How we talk about this

We use words like could, may and we're exploring deliberately. The Internet of Record is a category we are trying to define clearly, not a standard we are claiming already exists.

Where we are confident, we say so. Where we are guessing, we say that too. The thesis is more useful to everyone if it can be argued with.

The record exists independently of the surface.
